We went for lunch. Lunch menu is limited but they let you order from dinner menu. I could not eat some of item on the teishoku menu but the owner gave me substitution without giving me guilt feeling . Chawanmushi only comes with dinner teishoku, but she also gave me as a la carte.
It a bit pricey but foods are fresh and taste great. I really enjoy their food and service.
BTW the bathroom is very clean and roomy -

Small japanese food that provides sushi and teishoku and other yummy dishes. I really like the food here. Very flavorful, fresh fish, and owned by the cutest Japanese couple in the world. If you're looking for a mom and pop type of restaurant, totally check this place out. It really feels like when you eat their food that they are providing you a home cooked meal! I had the Butterfish teishoku and it was delicious! I haven't had such a well cooked piece of butterfish in a while. The portion size is also reasonable for the price, but also remember, it is Japanese food so it may seem higher, but the taste is worth it!

Lately I've been craving to find some authentic Japanese restaurants here after returning from Japan. I was able to stumble upon this place from yelp and few reassurances from friends who have been here before. Located off of Keeaumoku, it's a small hole in the wall place near 88 market. The parking lot is somewhat tight and minimal but I was still able to find some when I pulled in.
When I walked in I was greeted by the owner/waitress. She owns the place with her husband who also doubles as the sushi chef. The menu is pretty simple as they mostly do doburis (rice bowls) and mostly sushi and fish items. From what I seen they had 2 beers, Sapporo and Asahi, my favorite.
I got the negi toro combo which came with salad, miso soup, pickled vegetables and chawan mushi. The negi toro donburi was hefty with a generous helping of rice and negi toro. The negi toro was extremely fresh and the rice was perfect. I was later informed that they had just picked up this great bluefin earlier in the day and wow did it show. Everything else was pretty good as well. My other half got the butterfish teishoku and the portion was huge for the price. 2 large butterfish fillets with all the sides as well. For what it was the prices were reasonable and the portions were very filling.
For the donburi combos, they also have an option to have a conbo of mini udon or soba at the cost of a smaller entree. Not sure if that's worth it but it's worth a try if you want udon.
I was very happy with the choice of coming here for dinner. I will be back here again, but after I've continued exploring for other restaurants. -

I love Japanese cuisine and Michinoku is a great place to experience some authentic Japanese food. Located right next to 88 Palpal Supermarket, this tiny restaurant allows you to feel like you're in Japan without actually flying there!
There's the usual Japanese teishokus to choose from such as butterfish, salmon, and sashimi. They also offer quite a few soba and udon choices for noodle lovers. I decided on the Ikura Oyako-Don ($21), which came with Ikura and super fresh salmon sashimi on top of sushi rice. My dinner came on a tray with miso soup, salad, chawanmushi, tsukemono, and rice. Other people in my party ordered the Michinoku Special, unagi, salmon teishoku, and hamachi kama. Everyone was very satisfied with their meals!
The owners are really nice and service was great! There's some free parking in the tiny shopping plaza it's in or you can drive around to the back of the restaurant where there's more stalls.
There's not a lot of tables, so reservations are suggested. Will be back again!
